CJI Thakur: I would retire with a Heavy Heart, Bar has reduced itself to a ‘Fish Market’

Never saw Junior Lawyers out-shouting Senior Advocates in 23 Years as a Judge, Thakur lamented.

CJI TS Thakur equated the atmosphere of Apex Court to that of a “fish market”.

On Friday when the lawyers out-shouted each other during hearing on demonetization, he reacted by saying,“What kind of memory I would take with me!”.

The CJI showed his resentment by saying that in his career of twenty three years as a judge he has never seen such unruly behavior.

He referred to junior lawyers who were shouting to interrupt senior advocates, Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi, who was arguing for the government ,Kapil Sibal & P Chidambaram making the atmosphere of the court like of a “fish market”.

”This is Chief Justice of India’s court & yet no decorum. You cannot be allowed such kind of behavior,”said the CJI, who’ll be demitting his office on January 3.
