Cop threatens to shoot a Lawyer in Court Complex, suspended

Incidents of faceoff between Cops and Lawyers are not uncommon in District Courts in India.

The incident pertains to Karkardooma District Courts Complex in Eastern Delhi.

A practicing Lawyer was desirous of meeting his Client who was lodged in the Court attached Police Lockup.

However, the situation turned bad when the Lawyer and the Cop picked up an argument over allowing him to meet his client and in the meanwhile Cop pulled out his service Revolver and aimed at the Lawyer while threatening to shoot him.

It is also believed that the Cop panicked as he was surrounded by a group of Lawyers and he apprehended that he would be thrashed.

This led to widespread protests by Lawyers practicing at Karkardooma court on Friday.

Thereafter preliminary enquiry by Delhi Police found the the Cop to be at fault and he was placed under suspension.
