Court House attacked by a Suicide Bomber, leaves 25 litigants Dead in Damascus

Justice building housed Islamic Religious Tribunal on Personal matters and a Criminal Court.

On Wednesday a suicide bomber attacked a courthouse in the centre of the Syrian capital, killing at-least 25 people & injuring others, the state media reported citing a Damascus police source.

Security forces had cordoned off that area & the roads leading to it were blocked as firefighters and ambulances rushed to the courthouse.

The courthouse contains both an religious tribunal charged with personal matters, as well as a criminal court.

A lawyer in the building during the attack said that they were terrified as sound of the explosion was enormously loud and they took refuge in the library which was on a higher floor, it was a bloody scene.

The terrorist targeted civilians during a crowded period. The suicide bomber tried to enter & when the police tried to prevent him, he quickly rushed inside & blew himself up.

The bombing comes on the 6th anniversary of Syrian conflict, which began with anti-govt. demonstrations in March 2011.

Last Saturday, a twin bombing in the capital, Damascus killed 74 people.
