Indian-American Amul Thapar on Trump’s list for US Supreme Court Judge nominees


He was appointed a District Court Judge by George W Bush.


Amul Thapar, who is a Indian origin -American District Court Judge is among the now shorlisted potential nominees for US Supreme Court Judgeship picked by President-elect Donald Trump.

Amul Thapar’s name  has figured in Trump’s second list of selected individuals who would be considered for the nomination as a Supreme Court judge.

The list was announced on September 23.

As the 45th president of the United States, Trump would be in a position to nominate the three Supreme Court judges, The selected nomination list has now assumed significance because of this.

Currently Thapar holds the position as a US District Court Judge at Eastern District of Kentucky.

As of now Venezuelan-born Federico Moreno, 64, is the only US District Court minority candidate to be shortlisted.

Hhe was nominated to this position by the former Republican president George W Bush, as the first Article II Judge of South Asian origin,

The Trump Campaign said that he has taught law students at the University of Georgetown and Cincinnati.

Thapar has also served as an Assistant US Attorney in Washington and the Southern District of Ohio.

Judge Thapar had did his law degree from University of California, Berkeley.
