As Chief Justice of J&K he established Legal Aid Clinics which generated confidence among the people of the State
Soon after delivering the landmark judgement for carrying out reforms in the BCCI, today Justice F M I Kalifulla, retired as a Supreme Court Judge.
Chief Justice of India T S Thakur praised him for the historic verdict in the farewell function.
Justice Thakur said that while deciding the BCCI matter valuable insight was provided by Justice Kalifulla.
Farewell function was organised by SCBA, Supreme Court Bar Association.
Emotional Justice Kalifulla, thanked his family for all the support during his career. In his farewell speech he thanked Justice Thakur for his able guidance and T S Gopalan his mentor for all the cases he handled under him.
The outgoing judge also thanked SCBA as the best Bar association in the country.
Justice Thakur said that nothing is forever or eternal in this World.
Justice Thakur reminded all that Justice Kalifulla restored faith in the minds of Kashmiris by travelling across the state of J & K to ensure that poor citizens have access to justice.He got established legal aid clinics to generate confidence among the people of the state.
Justice Kalifullas transfer to Kashmir from Madras was looked upon as a step for national integration to restore institutional integrity of that state.
He was born on 23 July 1951, in Karaikudi, Sivagangai District, Tamil Nadu.
He was appointed as a judge of the Madras High Court. Then in February 2011, he became a member of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and then its Chief Justice.
