November,20,2015: November 26 which is celebrated by those related to Indian legal field as ‘Law Day’ has been notified by the Government of India as ‘Constitution Day’. As is known, the Constitution of India was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949 and was enforced two months later on January 26, 1950.
The gazette notification to this effect has been issued on November 19, 2015 by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment of the Ministry Of Social Justice And Empowerment. The notification notes that the current year is also witnessing the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar who had chaired the Constituent Assembly and played a pivotal role in the drafting of the Constitution of India.
To spread the importance of the Indian Constitution, India will observe November 26 as the Constitution Day of India. The day has also been declared as the Constitution Day to spread awareness about the its architect Dr B.R. Ambedkar. The day was announced by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, after he laid the foundation stone of Dr Ambedkar Memorial at Indu-Mills Compound.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced that November 26 would be observed as the ‘Constitution Day’ and all schools will celebrate the ‘Samvidhan Divas’ as a step towards spreading awareness about the life of its chief architect B R Ambedkar. He said that five landmarks associated with Ambedkar’s life including one in Madhya Pradesh, Alipur House in Delhi, the Indu Mill memorial, Dr Ambedkar’s residence in Mumbai and the newly purchased house in London will be developed as ‘Panch-Tirth’ (quintet pilgrimage) including one in London.
Modi also said that "on this day, every year, school children will be taught about constitution and Dr Ambedkar."

Earlier on September 30, 2015, a commemorative stamp on Dr. BR Ambedkar was released jointly by Government of India as a part of the celebrations of his of 125th Birth Anniversary.
