On Sunday, Delhi Police raided office of a law firm based in Southeast Delhi’s Greater Kailash-I area, and recovered about Rs 13.56 crore in cash.
Out of the sum of money recovered, about Rs 2.6 crore was in form of new banknotes released after the demonetisation.
Delhi Police in its starment said that, “Raid was carried out by Crime Branch at office of T&T Law Firm”.
Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police said that the Income Tax Department is investigating the source of new Rs. 2000 notes worth Rs 2.6 crore.
Joint Commissioner of Police said that a massive search operation is under way to nab perpetrators. Police is searching for the law firm’s owner, Lawyer Rohit Tandon.
About two weeks ago, I-T department had seized the unaccounted money worth Rs 19 crore from his bank accounts.
