National IPR policy will promote creativity, innovation in the Country: Govt.

The National Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Policy which has been announced by the government would help in promoting creativity and innovation in the country, as stated by Rajiv Aggarwal , Joint Secretary in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP). He also added that Government is making an ecosystem to promote both creativity and innovation.

While talking about ‘jugaad’ or ‘frugal innovation’, he stated these things are important, but are not the only solution as we have to think beyond jugaad and go further.

In May, Government had announced policy which would incentivise entrepreneurship and also curb manufacturing and sale of counterfeits.

The Policy comes with the tagline ‘Creative India: Innovative India’,  which also calls for the updating various Intellectual Property Right (IPR) laws, including the Indian Cinematography Act,so as to remove anomalies and inconsistencies in consultation with the stakeholders.
