FIR was registered recently on the directions of the Supreme Court.

UP Governor Ram Naik has written to Akhilesh Yadav asking why has the CM retained rape-accused minister Gayatri Prajapati back in his cabinet.

The Governor said in a letter to the Chief Minister seeking his justification saying that non-bailable warrant has been issued against Prajapati after FIR was registered against him in a rape case. Retaining the minister raises serious question of constitutional morality as well as dignity on his remaining in the cabinet.

UP’s Governor said, it has also come to his notice that the Chief Minister himself has asked the minister to surrender but he hasn’t done so yet & is absconding & there are apprehensions that he might have fled to some foreign country.

On this Saturday, the passport of the rape-accused UP minister was impounded, a lookout notice issued and airports have been alerted. The UP Police had claimed that it was conducting raids across UP to trace the absconding minister.

UP Police has registered an FIR against Gayatri Prajapati for gang-raping a woman & molesting her minor daughter with his aides.

Taking a dig at the Samjawadi Party govt. for shielding Prajapati, PM Narendra Modi on Saturday at an election meeting in Jaunpur said that in this country, when we do something good, we chant Gayatri Mantra, but, the SP-Congress alliance is chants the “Gayatri Prajapati Mantra”.

PM Modi said that “CM went to campaign for him(Gayatri Prajapati), while he was present there & now, the police cannot trace him”.

BJP’s UP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya attacked CM Akhilesh, saying that if he can’t ensure arrest of his “favourite” minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati in the rape case, at least he should sack him.
