SC Collegium reiterates 37 names out of 43 returned for High Court Judgeship: Govt

Govt. had cleared 34 names out of the 77 recommended by the SC Collegium for appointment as Judges in various High Courts.

Out of 43 names returned to Supreme Court by Government for reconsideration, Supreme Court collegium has “reiterated” its recommendation for 37 and has deferred three proposals while three other names are still with it.

On 18th November, Supreme Court informed the Government that it had reiterated all 43 names that was sent back by Government to the Collegium for reconsideration.

Chief Justice T S Thakur and Justice A R Dave stated that,”We had reiterated 43 names for the appointment as judges of High Courts which were rejected by the Government and have been sent back for reconsideration,”.

 

Government had apprised the Apex Court that no file with regard to recommendations for appointment of the judges was pending with it.
