Enough is enough. We are keen to finish it. We don’t want to keep matter pending says Supreme Court
Supreme Court has made it clear that State of Punjab would have to comply with its order on construction of Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) canal, by expounding that the ongoing controversy over the project must be brought to an end at the earliest.
Apex Court Bench comprising of Justice P C Ghose and Justice Amitava Roy enunciated that it would not accept any excuse of state government for not implementing its order.
Supreme Court further added that it would pass order on execution of its decree if the warring States of Punjab and Haryana if they failed to come to an agreeable solution.
SC said that controversy had been going on for years and it was thus time to bring curtains down on dispute to pave way for construction of the canal.
“Enough is enough. We are keen to finish it. We don’t want to keep matter pending,” expounded Bench while rejecting the plea of Punjab government requesting the court to post the case after March 11 when election result of the assembly polls would be declared.
