Special CBI Court convicts Delhi IPS Officer under Prevention of Corruption Act for amassing Wealth


Senior IPS officer had held several sensitive postings in Delhi


Delhi Special CBI Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna has convicted and handed over the punishment to 1993-batch IPS officer Bhupinder Singh Bola a two-year jail term and also imposed a fine of R 5 lakh.

Former DCP of Delhi, was sentenced today as he was convicted for acquiring assets disproportionate to his known income.

He was held guilty and convicted for offences criminal misconduct by public servant punishable under Section 13(2) read with possession of disproportionate assets by public servant punishable under 13(1)(e) of Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act.

IPS Bola, was convicted in a 2001 case for amassing wealth worth over Rs.10 lakh disproportionate to his income. However he was granted bail on a personal surety of R 50,000.

In 2001 raids were conducted at his residence and other places by CBI.

Documents were seized as per which he owned a flat in Mayur Vihar, one farmhouse, agriculture lands in villages and two flats in Krishana Nagar.

CBI had started trailing him during 1989 – 2001 while he was posted as Additional DCP North district.

At the time of raids he was posted asMD of Pondichery Distilleries in the month of June 2001.

The assets were acquired by Bola during this period.
