Landmark Judgment of Supreme Court has today restored the Congress’s Arunachal Pradesh Government as it quashed all the orders passed by the State’s governor since December 15, 2015 onwards.
All notifications of issued by Arunachal Governor on December 9 and it restored status quo ante as on December 15, 2015.
While hearing a petition on extent of discretionary powers vested with the Governor to summon or advance Assembly sessions in the state.
Arunachal’s Governor JP Rajkhowa had advanced the Winter Session of the Assembly without any consultation with the then chief minister, Nabam Tuki.
This led to Rebel Congress Party lawmakers try to impeach the Speaker at a makeshift venue in the State Capital.
The then chief minister, Nabam Tuki stated to ANI that he and his party have got justice from SC.
As per him Apex Court has today saved this democratic country and its constitution.
It is a really historic & absolutely remarkable judgement, which goes well as per expectations of the people of the country.”
This Judgment is passed by Constitution Bench, of Justices J.S. Khehar, Dipak Misra, Madan B. Lokur, Pinaki Chandra Ghose and N.V. Ramana.
The Bench quashed all the unconstitutional and illegal actions of the Arunachal Governor and the Deputy Speaker which resulted in the fall of the Tuki Government.
