Supreme Court to hear Petition on High Air Pollution Levels in Delhi


On Tuesday, Supreme Court will hear a plea on the alarming levels of air pollution in Delhi.

Apex Court Bench headed by Chief Justice T.S. Thakur and Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice L. Nageswara Rao have agreed to hear the matter after Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) submitted before the Apex Court that there was no effective implementation of the directions issued by the Supreme Court last year.

CSE pleaded that it wanted the Apex Court to monitor the implementation of its directions.

Before the Apex Court, a report by Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority for NCR on the state of air pollution in the national capital has alos been submitted.

On Sunday, the Delhi Government stepped in by taking a few steps to tackle the pollution levels like by closing of all the schools for three days.
